Paheli - SRK = a beautiful movie
thats math for you..... I meant Paheli minus SRK equals a beautiful movie.....
oh well may be as a producer he was needed....not as an actor! He has spoilt the beauty of the movie...
Kudos to Amol palekar for taking up a simple folklore to the silverscreen.a simple beautiful fairytale, shot fantastically, nice dialogues, pleasantly colourful frames, glimpses of humor inbetween....barring some songs(yeah...a few too many and out of context and unnecessary).
the dialect, costumes, setting everything takes u to the period(dunno when :D) which it belonged.... everything.... except SRK.he stands out in each frame.... but alas... spoils it. He is the superstar carrying the same expressions....main hoon na....kal ho na ho,KKHH,DDLJ....etc etc.Man.... we(atleast I) need a break from this guy.he was the perfect spoiler in this movie.I guess he is better off doing his usual stuff.... the savior man, the samaritan with a huge heart and wizardry.
But I pity Amol Palekar,I guess he had no choice but to cast him...after all he is the producer(Gauri khan to be politically correct)!
when everything is set to that date, that environment....and reiterate...they have taken fairly minute details.... but for Mr SRK's hairstyle.yeah! he doesnt look one bit before 2000AD. it might seem like 1 am pinpointing needless details....u ll know how gravely it is out of context.
the first part(about 10 mins....sans the songs) where he is the obedient son of a baniya he hams or overacts....(trying to play a character). this is somewhat...just somewhat watchable.
and then comes the tragedy(no he doesnt die....unfortunately...though he is the Bhoot).... he changes into this flamboyant SRK...the characters are dead...down the drain.
all the efforts of the other actors, director and other crew go totally waste.Rani is good...though there was a hint of she losing the character as well...at some places.but overall she is good.and so are the rest...and I am not talking about just the actors...
and now coming to the audience..........
some of them actually deserve SRK in the movie! yea.... they come out of movie hall and yap about unrealistic story.... how can ghosts fall in love, have kids blah blah blah..........they dont know why the movie was horrible.I ll tell u....its coz of SRK....that too in double role! (oh so its Paheli - 2*SRK = a classic movie)
but Sixth Sense,Harry Potter,Matrix are all 'brilliant masterpieces'!!! HUH!!!!!!!!
its a folktale... what else do u expect....enjoy the simplicity and beauty of a folklore.
Its a movie....enjoy the unrealistic, fantasy world.enjoy the creativity.enjoy the mind and dream of a director or any artist.
So...heres kudos n cheers to Amol Palekar's future ventures with better producers( and in turn better actors)
Can you please find my socks??
I am amazed at how this name has caught on.........
not my socks.... Google!
being a business quiz enthusiast or for that matter business and international brands et al, I have read about some great brands, how they became household names and become a noun and a verb, part of the language..
i get to see...did u xerox it??I have five xeroxes of this?!?!
from a company's point of view...an ultimate stamp of brand power.
google is in the same league... I can hardly think of any website/IT related product/software etc etc...coming anyway clsoe to this.not even Windows....nothing else
Online quizzing is a piece of cake with google..... now the questions come with notes like 'Dont google' or 'I have changed spellings so that they are not googleable' etc etc.Earlier getting the answers were tough....now it is setting the answers!
I come up with any coding issues....rarely would I ping the 'Guru' of that sitting across the cube... rahter it is google... after going thro a couple of links you will be ready to give gyan to people around you.
well...two more instances that really made me think about google's brand image.... within the last 3 days...
I wanted to activate GPRS facility on my mobile and when the guy called to give me the settings and check out... He said... type www.google.com.see if it works! It works..it does! Come on...arent you supposed to say check airtelworld.com or ideacellular.com????
then I thought may be this particular guy is hooked to google... but nope. Not happy with this connection when I switched to another provider...he said the same!!!
Whats the big deal??? good question..... the marketing guys would know!(apart from that fact that it has a simple page and loads faster et al....that again is their ingenuinity)....airtel is hoping to get a major revenue from their gprs,3G services.....so are the other players.Google may not be a competition in any way... but then.... you are not driving your customers to your site.Above that the homepage is filled with all the graphics possible...I wonder if any of our bollywood movies have used so many special effects.the delay in loading the main page is actually a deterrent to anyone...(i am talking about browsing in a mobile phone).... so there you go....
and the next... i would like to keep any particular names away from here...but a top technological institute suggests that 'Google' for the topic you have chosen... and see if there is anything similar to that.If the first few links do not show anything similar, then go ahead!!!!!!!! Come on.....
It wont be late when it ll become accrediting agency for information.probably you can apply and get patents online!
well thats the power of branding!!
and the way they are pushing gmail.... that'll become synonymous with mails too.not long ago... hotmail had that distinction....
I have heard and keep hearing that some other search engines are better.... but.......
but I wish google (and i wont b surprised if they do) could find my socks or keys or phone I keep losing. How I wish I can just login to the net and say...search "my grey left sock"(may be an image search too).... and immediately able to click the 'Im feeling lucky button" :D
Batatas and Brad Pitt
Batatas and Brad PittPune Special!!!!!
spent 4 weeks here so far! I shall try and give you guys an insight into Pune.......
It should probably carry a sobriquet like 'Batata City'.... yeah you got it right Potatoes!
Potatoes!
Potaoes!!
Potatoes!!!
I guess it is available in abumdance and is very cheap! or is it a loyalty to the vegetable?
I dunno what the reason is but I find 'batata' everywhere.....
Morning.... it is batata bhaji with dosa, poori, batata upma, batata poha
Afternoon.... batata bhaji, batata rice, batata batata batata
Evening....batata bhajji,pakoras,samosas,kachori
Dinner.... refer 'Afternoon'
mind you I have left out so many names coz I dunno what they are and how to pronounce them.
and another interesting thing I sawa last weekend...in a multiplex here.... Restrrom Advertisement!
yeah.... as I was hurrying towards the sanctum sanctorum called the gents loo....... I was welcomed by a Mr Smith!
ans as I was wondering what is this all about, I happened to see Mrs Smith welcoming the ladies!
the huge posters were beckoning us...
yes..... now Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are the Loo Mascots... a la our AI Maharaja!
Would they demand more money for acting in this movie? or what!!!
How I wish I could let them this little secret to them......
After accepting Pitt's invitation.... I went in... only to be greeted by only a 'brief-clad' desi model. His huge,life-size cut-outs placed
all over the place was screaming out to buy the product he was endorsing!I do really apprecite the creativity that went into this.
this gives new meaning to what I think 'the best ideas come in the loo'.Atlast the Indian advertising has surpassed the creativity
threshold it had to!
now coming back to potatoes...... I am one too ... a couch potato:P
have to go and watch lotsa crap on TV till I hit the sack! :D
just relocated from bangalore....the silicon city(!?!?)
as much as i love bangalore....it is getting little too crowded and polluted and whatever makes it unfriendly to live in a city.though crime and riots et al are almost unheard of.
I moved to pune.....you could call this a twin city of bangalore.I (so far=> 5 days) did not find any major difference between these two........
the weather is just the same....not too laid back not too fast. cosmopolitan, "BABES" :D
if at all there is any difference at all... are the roads and traffic. compared to bangalore it is much much better. but I guess people never stop cribbing. It seems be a part of life on par to breathing. People here crib about traffic and roads!! Ever been to Bangalore,Chennai,Delhi,Mumbai???
Anyways, this will be my first weekend here........ lets see what I can dig up.If the weekends can live upto Bangalore standards....oh boy I am gonna rock in this city!
